Pitch Slam 2016: The Write Side is closed to entries.
Please join us in September 2017! And feel free to check out our “Resources” section to learn how you can benefit from the Pitch Slam Writing Community NOW!
How Pitch Slam Works:
Authors send in the first 250 words of their manuscripts and a 35 word pitch. A panel of judges reads and critiques the entries, and authors receive feedback from three of our judges. Authors then have a few days to revise before sending in their final entry.
With the help of the judges, our hosts read the final entries and choose finalists for their teams. Finalists are featured on the hosts’ blogs, where agents will read and make requests. These requests are kept hidden during the agent round, and are then revealed en masse at the end.
Finalists then send their queries and requested materials to the agents.
The Pitch Slam theme changes from year to year, and is not a reflection of the kind of stories we’re looking for. We just like to add some geektastic fun to the contest every year (see our “Themes” section for a list of past themes). All genres of MG, YA, and NA/Adult fiction will be welcome.
